“So the FCC won’t let me be, Or let me be me so let me see. They tried to shut me down on MTV, but it feels so empty without me”, said Eminem in his 2002 song “Without Me.” These struggles are currently being dealt with today, and most recently with none other than Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel was taken off the air for about a week’s time before the broadcasting services brought his show back to life and to the public. The cause of his disappearance was his semi-controversial opinion regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Sources show that the culprit behind the shut down was Trump and his ally Brenden Carr. Trump found Kimmel’s statement about Kirk to be offensive. Kimmel made comments about Kirk’s assassination, bringing to light the horrible events that played out, quoting, “President Donald Trump’s supporters were eager to characterize Kirk’s accused assassin as anything other than one of them.” While his joke missed many, Trump didn’t like what he had to say. Trump later talked to Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC to shut down his show.
After Kimmel’s relaunch, Trump stated, “Can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back” and “Something happened between then and now because his audience is GONE, and his ‘talent’ was never there.” Trump continued on with more slander towards Kimmel like, “Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE. He is yet another arm of the DNC and, to the best of my knowledge, that would be a major Illegal Campaign Contribution.” He added finally, “I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars. This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings.I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars. While many see this as a good take away, and others see it as a bad loss, lots see this as something that could escalate later. The largest controversy is what’s next. People see that the loss of free speech could grow later on into a completely destroyed topic. The FCC has also been shutting down people for many years so this is a new outrage for an old issue. Americans deserve the freedom given to them by the first amendment, without the government or representatives taking too much control.
